Michigan requires CPL applicants to complete an appropriate pistol safety training course, and the state’s CPL training framework covers safe handling/storage, ammunition and shooting fundamentals, shooting positions, firearms law and civil liability, avoiding criminal attacks/controlling violent confrontations, and Michigan concealed-carry laws.
The established course standard is at least 8 hours of instruction, including 3 hours of range time. We offer the USCCA designed course of Concealed Carry Essentials and Home Defense Fundamentals. We also go over safe and effective ways to do dry-fire practice in class and at home. This topic can be presented in a personalized one on one at-home setting or in a small groups of up to 4 students.
Required Equipment: A reliable handgun, magazines, ammunition, appropriate eye and ear protection. Specific equipment and ammunition requirements will be provided during registration. (**Various Handgun types available for rental upon request for $25 fee**)
